We just got home from our first cruise (Viking Sky), which was wonderful and I’ll be writing a review shortly. I wanted to extend a huge thanks to each of you here for being so helpful and patient in answering all my questions over the past few months and for posting so much helpful information. Thanks to you, our experience was even better than it would have otherwise been. A few of your tips we especially found helpful:

- Ginger capsules for rough seas (really helped!)

- Clothes pins

- Early arrival for afternoon tea (or go later in the cruise)

- Explorer’s Lounge (we ended up spending the most time there)

- Quiet zones alongside the Wintergarden

- Bird song in public restrooms

- Arrival a day before embarkment

- Having appropriate expectations for included/“panoramic” excursions

- Watching lectures and port talks on TV

- Asking for non-menu items from room service

And many more.

You made our cruise even better, and we are most grateful. This group is the best!

What did you need the clothes pins for?

It was a pleasure meeting you and your lovely husband and I'm looking forward to your review!

Likewise!

We made extensive use of the clothesline in the shower. Very handy.

We are off on the Star next week.

What off menu items did you ask for on room service?

Just berries for breakfast and cream rather than milk for coffee. We wrote them on the room service menu you hang on your door. But I think you can request pretty much anything they offer in the restaurants.

We were on Star last year and will be back in June.

As Twichly said, I also wrote on the room service menu. For example, they listed only V8 but I ordered tomato juice; stuff for the omelette, mimosa on sea day (we had Silver Package), etc. Room service croissants are the best I've ever had :)

I also asked for cream and they sent it. I’d write on the card just what I wanted. I ordered a spinach and Swiss omelette with an English muffin. All arrived on time, hot & delish!
