Independent touring Torshavn faroes

Hi

 

Does anyone have any experiences good or bad of downtown Torshavn car hire for cruise ship day touring, or doing an independent (non cruise ship) tour.

 

I’ve purchased a Bradt guide and googled but I am really struggling for information

 

Our cruise ship tours run concurrently so the most we could do in a 12 hour visit is one half day tour. This isn’t enough for me

 

We arrive in Torshavn at 10am and leave at midnight on 27 July 2018.
