mbrown572097 Posted May 14, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2018 Looking to do self-walkoff from Escape. What kind of obstacles can I expect to encounter with my bags? i.e. stairs, escalators, etc...
njhorseman Posted May 14, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 14, 2018 Obstacles include long lines if you're not among the first few off the ship. When you exit the ship you'll be on the second level of the cruise terminal and you have to descend to the street (ground) level to clear immigration/customs and exit the terminal. You will have to wrangle your luggage down a fairly steep escalator, use the stairs (if they're allowing it that day...I've seen days where they didn't for some reason) or take the elevator. There can be a long wait to get on the elevator, which is the only way down for those in wheelchairs or having other mobility challenges. Frankly, the process of getting down to the street level is a big reason we don't do self walk off. That way our luggage is already downstairs and we don't have to deal with bringing it down from the second level.
Rare mskaufman Posted May 15, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 15, 2018 A lot of folks self disembark and the line was long. However, the elevator was fairly large and the line was not too long.
