Glaciers Posted March 10, 2023 #26 Share Posted March 10, 2023 @Golfbag The catamaran returns to Whittier and you will be transported by bus to Anchorage. We’ve done the tour but not the transfer. The tour is exceptional.
Suzanne123 Posted March 10, 2023 #27 Share Posted March 10, 2023 I love this tour. I’ve taken it at least eight times, and once I took it two days in a row with different vendors, riding the train r/t from Anchorage. IMO just as nice as Glacier Bay with up close view of glaciers and rafts of otters in calm water around you.
wolfie11 Posted March 10, 2023 #28 Share Posted March 10, 2023 The tour unfortunately no longer goes to Barry Arm and Surprise Glacier. If you are arriving into Whittier, you probably did College Fjord the evening before and this will be a repeat. Not that I would ever get tired of looking at glaciers, but it will be the same glacier.
oaktreerb Posted March 10, 2023 #29 Share Posted March 10, 2023 5 hours ago, Golfbag said: If I'm reading the description correctly for the HAL excursions, they offer this AFTER our cruise is over in Whittier and it gets us to Anchorage via the catamaran for our very late flight home. Has anyone ever done this? You would take a bus to Anchorage after the Phillips cruise. The cruise is on a catamaran but the bus or train offers transportation to Anchorage. Some of the HAL cruises go to College Fjord as part of the itinerary.
Golfbag Posted March 11, 2023 #30 Share Posted March 11, 2023 Perfect - these were exactly the answers I was looking for! Thank you! I was just hoping to avoid doing the train or bus transfer to ANC.
