spleenstomper Posted May 23, 2018 Author #16 Share Posted May 23, 2018 CODE RED 000 ABNT20 KNHC 232308 TWOAT Special Tropical Weather Outlook NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 710 PM EDT Wed May 23 2018 For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico: A broad surface low centered over the southeastern Yucatan Peninsula has become better defined since yesterday, and it continues to produce a large area of cloudiness and showers extending from the northwestern Caribbean Sea across Cuba into the Florida Straits. Continued slow development of this system is possible during the next couple of days as it drifts northward near the Yucatan Peninsula. Thereafter, environmental conditions are forecast to become more conducive for development, and a subtropical or tropical depression is likely to form this weekend over the eastern or central Gulf of Mexico. Regardless of development, locally heavy rainfall is possible across western Cuba and the Cayman Islands during the next few days, and over much of Florida and the northern Gulf Coast during the weekend. For more information on the heavy rain threat, please see products issued by your local weather office. The next Special Tropical Weather Outlook on this system will be issued by 800 AM EDT on Thursday. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...high...70 percent. $$ Forecaster Beven (First code red of the 2018 hurricane season) I’ve been through enough of these to know to just go with the flow, board the ship on time and sit back for the best cruise we can have. I’m a weather geek, so I’ll be keeping up with this.

ABQrobin Posted May 24, 2018 #23 Share Posted May 24, 2018 Looks like Belize is getting hammered! Don't expect any land excursions there for next week or two. Our cruise in 2014 had this same problem, rain continuous in Belize for a week washed out many roads so all land excursions (ruins, cave tubing, etc) were cancelled. We ended up on a snorkel boat, in the rain. Just be prepared!
Matlily Posted May 24, 2018 #24 Share Posted May 24, 2018 We are worried we are sailing Sunday on The Breeze from Galveston May 27th to Key West and The Bahamas I guess I have never been on a cruise with no sun! need to bring more money for liquor, Casino and bingo!! uggh so was looking forward to a week long break with laying in the sun. Should we cancel our excursions they are not booked thru carnival we have them to a all inclusive in Freeport 80% thunderstorms and Atlantis in Nassau 80% thunderstorms, will the water park even be open?
