sdschwrt Posted May 28, 2018 #51 Share Posted May 28, 2018 We are doing this cruise next week and my wife also uses a portable wheelchair. Do you know if wheelchairs can be accomadated on the tender to Belize? Like your mother she can walk short distances but could not do a full flight of stairs if the tender platform level can not be accessed without an elevator
hockeyluver Posted May 28, 2018 #52 Share Posted May 28, 2018 (edited) Thank you so much for this review !! Exactly what I need :D we are also doing this exact cruise but in February, Also our first time in a cove balcony, we are actually booked 3 doors up from you. We are in 2264. Is it possible for you to get a couple pictures from the balcony looking at the port of calls ? My hubby is concerned about what kind of view we will have. Thank you, looking forward to the rest of your trip review. Wishing you blue skies and calm seas!! Edited May 28, 2018 by hockeyluver

rainbowflag Posted May 28, 2018 #55 Share Posted May 28, 2018 Hi - This is good of you to do, we'll be aboard on the same itinerary in February. If you happen to mosey by the Alchemy during the Your Time for LGBTQ it would be appreciated if you would take notice if people were there for the gathering. Thanks
Rare Saint Greg Posted May 28, 2018 #56 Share Posted May 28, 2018 We made it on board in what to me seems like record time. Left the airport Hilton at noon; arrived at 12:25 for our 12:30-1 pm check in window and on board by 12:50. I’ll admit mom being in a wheelchair does tend to move us to some shorter lines so that definitely factors in. Just hanging out in the lobby until our room is ready so we can unload our carry on bags and then head up to Lido to eat. I can already tell this cruise is going to be crowded. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Have they gone to the new check-in system where you get your S&S card in an envelope at your room? Or are they still giving you your card before you board? jpm1973 Posted May 29, 2018 Author #60 Share Posted May 29, 2018 Today was a pretty low-key day at sea. Started out somewhat cloudy, cleared a bit and then rained for awhile before clearing nicely and becoming beautiful for the end of the day. We did go to the sea day brunch and had great, quick service there. We both got eggs to order that came out perfectly. After brunch it was straight to the casino for mom where she stayed for much of the day. I paid a visit there off and on; first with slots (no bueno) and then craps (muy bueno). About 4 we headed back to the cabin for a short nap before our 6:30 reservation at the steakhouse, which was, as always, awesome. Just too much food but well worth the price. They do still offer the wine promotion on the first and second nights - a free bottle of house red or white or half off any other bottle on the list. We opted for a bottle of Conundrum which at the 50% off price is a great deal. After dinner we took in the Motor City show in the main theater. I know the Playlist Production shows get some shade but we both really enjoyed this one. Mom is from Detroit originally so she grew up with this music and really loved the show. The performers on the Dream are all really quite good. Mom is back in the casino now while I have one last drink at Alchemy before calling it a night. I’m not sure if it’s the ship or what but I feel like this is one of the smoothest cruises I’ve had in a long time, even with Alberto spinning around to our east. I guess I waited too long to try a Dream class ship! And for those who have made requests or posed questions I haven’t forgotten you - I promise to report back with what I find tomorrow. jpm1973 Posted May 29, 2018 Author #62 Share Posted May 29, 2018 Tuesday, May 29 (Day 3 - At Sea) I just had to make a comment on how smooth this cruise has been...wake up today to ugly gray skies and winds and now pouring rain. I always hate bad weather sea days because it means all the indoor areas will be extra crowded. We ordered room service for breakfast today; stopped by the shops for mom to exchange a ring she bought yesterday for a different size; and now she’s back in the casino while I sit in Ocean Plaza watching people and working on the daily crossword. Was hoping to get some sun today but so far that’s not looking too promising. In that second picture you can see another ship off in the distance - I think it’s the MSC ship schedule to be in the same ports every day as we are. jpm1973 Posted May 29, 2018 Author #63 Share Posted May 29, 2018 Thank you very much for the review, I'm following. If you happen you go to the coffee bar, can you please help me check the price for souvenirs coffee cup, and how much for the re fill please. But if it's not on your way, please don't worry. Happy cruising to you and your mom. Souvenir coffee cup is $8.95 and includes the first drink in the cost (cappuccino, latte, or macchiato). stingray310 Posted May 29, 2018 #65 Share Posted May 29, 2018 I was just curious what transportation you used from the Hilton at the airport to the port. Did you use taxi, uber or some type of shuttle, and if so what was the cost? Will be doing this cruise next February and just researching different transportation options. I hope you enjoy the cove balcony, We really like ours when we had them. Thanks for the review, I'm enjoying reading along as you sail. Thanks Stingray310

spleenstomper Posted May 30, 2018 #74 Share Posted May 30, 2018 This is the most movement I have had on a ship I think ever. It’s been dreary days and bumpy nights. I don’t mind it though. No vomit bags or out or anything. A lot of shimmying. I hope we can snorkel tomorrow in Jamaica, but I’m not convinced yet that we will.
