Need advice for Norway fjords excursions

Recommended Posts

We will stop on our cruise in small places like Eidfjord and skjolden and there are ship tours and private tours. As the ship is large and we will be only 2 people (one adults and one child) on these tours would it be better to count on local tours (or because of too many people on ship first ones comes, first one served)? Or just better to take ship tours?

Hi- would highly recommend visit sjkolden and touring with turid as we had a great small tour with her last week doing the Big 5. brilliant day out and w were out for 7 hours including lunch and saw much more than the ship's tours and with great personal commentary and guiding. She has lived there all her life so know exactly what to see and we missed the tour buses all throughout the day so magical movements with just us at a site or viewing point. I organised through our roll call and we had a fun group to which made the day even better. Excellent value so highly recommended.

her email address is Turid Øiene <turidvisitskjolden@gmail.com>

Eidfjord is a very small village at the end of the fjord. No that much to do, alhtough the ship will fofer some tours. No rentalcar station there but we rented a private small car through gomore.no and drove to the falls at Voringsfoss. Nice trip, easy to do.

In Eidfjord we enjoyed a private bus tour to the nature center and the water fall. There really is not a lot to do in this town. I think we had pre-booked our tickets online. We got off the ship in the morning, walked around town until our tour time. The tour drove us to the nature center, the movie here was good, the rest ok and then on to the waterfall. We enjoyed the scenery and the drive as well as letting someone else worry about how to get to where we were going. I think this would be a great option for you. By booking privately we saved money over the cruise ship tour.
