niceguyneastbay Posted May 30, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2018 Anyone having issues or heard of issues on the current Rotterdam sailing of the 14 day North Cap that departed May 19th departing from Rotterdam?
Ine Posted May 31, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 31, 2018 Rotterdam had to skip Honingvag (Northpole) due to bad weather, storm and cold. They had 4 seadays and after that they docked in Hellsylt and Geiranger yesterday.
Rare VMax1700 Posted May 31, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 31, 2018 Rotterdam had to skip Honingvag (Northpole) due to bad weather, storm and cold. They had 4 seadays and after that they docked in Hellsylt and Geiranger yesterday. That would be a bit disappointing for those onboard. We did the same cruise exactly 12 months ago and apart from a downpour (again!) in Bergen, we had great weather and kind seas all the way.
RichardQ Posted June 2, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 2, 2018 (edited) Just returned from the 14 day Nortcape sailing. We had Exceptional Weather! In All harbours Sunny and above 22 degree Celsius. . But when leaving Trondheim the Captain announced that because of expected storms and heavy seas it was not possible to enter the port of Hammerfest. Instead Tromso would be approached and then the inside passage to Honnigsvag. However as arrived the waves reached 5 to 8 meters at the Tromso pilot station. Pilot services has therefore been discotinued. The route to the North was not an option anymore as waves up to 14 meters were predicted in Hammerfest and Honnigsvag. Instead of 1 seaday we got 4,5. After some confusing communication the solution was after 3 more seadays an embedded day and overnight in Hellesylt. This was due beautiful weather a very relaxing stay.
