General questions/Seaside

We are considering a cruise on Seaside for next spring. We've cruise on all the major US lines except Disney. But I have the

following questions/concerns. Please only answer if you've actually cruise on Seaside, not read or heard from a friend.

I'm concerned about smoking. I have a sensitivity to the smoke, somewhere between high and moderate. Is there a smoke smell all over and do they enforce the posted no smoking signs or are they viewed as suggestions?

I have been told by someone who has sailed Seaside that there isn't much been on the MDR - was that your experience?

How is the food in your opinion? I know food is very subjective but I would like to hear specific examples of great, decent, not very good foods.

How is service on the ship? Customer service on the phone is a joke and I'm wondering if that is a reflection of onboard experiences.

This cruise is in consideration because we can get a balcony for the 3 of us for less than an inside on Celebrity for the same date and a mostly similar itinerary.

A balcony on MSC v inside? Got to go with the balcony!

Sailed SS once and have booked two more. To answer your questions, there is no issue with smoke. They do not allow it in the Casino unlike other lines so it is not seeping into other areas. Strictly limited to designated outdoor areas.

We found customer service to be just fine throughout, bars, dining etc. Great onboard experience in that regard.

Food is so subjective but consensus seems to be that it is fine, there is always something that will appeal. And the pizza is wonderful.

Go for it!

Trina is mostly correct. There are two sides to the casino, and smoking is allowed on one side. There are very good air movers, though, and smoke is not a problem unless you are at a slot playing between two heavy smokers.

For the MDR, we were in Yacht Club, so I can't comment. I have seen menus, thought, and there are ate least five to six entrees to choose from, and with the exception of Italian night, there are the usual perpetual regulars (chicken, salmon and a steak). The buffet has improved in the last few months, according to reviewers.

Customer service is excellent, especially if you smile and ask kindly, they will respond postively. NOt trying to preach, but the Golden Rule applies.

I had no issue with smoke and thought it was confined well to the designated areas.

Food is subjective but I thought the food was some of the best I have had on a cruise and that includes the main dining room as well as the buffet where I had most breakfast and lunches.

Customer service was good, but I did feel some of the employees could be better trained about the ship as they seemed unsure in some instances in answering questions, but nothing I would worry about in terms of sailing with them again.

Go for the balcony, you will enjoy I'm sure.

I always go for a balcony when I can and I enjoyed our room on the Seaside very much. We spent a lot of time in the Casino and for the most part the smoke was not bad unless you were on mixed in with the smokers.

I found the service to be mixed. Sometimes I had extremely excellent service, sometimes, it was just OK. Our waiter was nice, but it feels like I have had a better experience on other ships.

I enjoyed all the food, in both the MDR and the buffet. However, again, it felt a little less elegant than other ships.

Overall though, I had a wonderful time and thought the ship was beautiful and am sailing again in November!

We were on the Seaside 5/12 - 5/19. We had a balcony Aurea experience. I was impressed the minute we stepped onboard. We went to the spa to make our massage appt right away and the service was great! If you are going to book a massage do it right away and you will have the pick of times that works for you. From there we went across to the Seaview lounge, oh my, Priscilla is the BEST Bar Server ever. She spent so much time talking to us and assisting with setting up reservations for the shows, etc...She went above and beyond and knows how to provide EXCELLENT service! One of the best Bars is the Wine & Cocktail bar on deck 16 outside of the Pay restaurants. Alfredo knows how to make anything you want & enjoys what he does. We went to Customer service a couple of times and had no issues. Restaurant service was quick and friendly...keep in mind we had the Aurea experience and it is separate from the main restaurant - it was anytime dining and we went around 6p every night, never too crowded. The food was good & I never had a hard time choosing what I wanted. Some ship lines have many choices and it makes it hard to choose and of course I come home a few pounds heavier because I want to try so many things....this ship didn't have as many choices which made it easier for me and I was happy with what I ordered. Yes, smoking is allowed in the Casino, I am a smoker and the smoking area was enforced...in fact I was smoking one row beyond the area by mistake and was told I needed to move or put out my cigarette....I was impressed and it was handled well. They must have a great system to keep the air moving because I did not smell the smoke outside of the casino as on other ships & it was not bad inside either. You will not make a mistake cruising on the Seaside. Enjoy your cruise!
