dewats784 Posted June 12, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2018 We will be getting off the ship in Port Canaveral on Saturday Dec. 1st. I am looking at making our flight reservations. There is a very good flight that leaves at 11:20. I know most people are saying to book a flight after 12:30. My question to you is have you ever made a flight that early from Port Canaveral to Orlando?
teknoge3k Posted June 12, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 12, 2018 wow, I wouldn't think about chancing that one. They start calling for debarkation around 7:30 if you're taking your own luggage off, then you still have to make it through customs and then the 45 minute drive to MCO, assuming there is no traffic/accidents. Then you have to spend half a day getting through security at MCO (seriously, it takes FOREVER there. It took us almost an hour at 5am in the morning 2 weeks ago). Then you have to find your gate. Not to mention that's what time your flight leaves. I know Southwest boards 30 minutes prior to the take off time.
JohninDC Posted June 12, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 12, 2018 For an 11:20 flight you need to be at MCO NLT 9:50 - and 9:30 or earlier is better given the TSA chaos I always find there. That translates into off the ship, with bags, and clear of customs/immigration by 8:30 and then load into a limo or taxi or Uber (no time to wait for a shared shuttle). Do you want to spend your cruise worried about making your flight home? It's your call.
