anyone been on Harmony or Serenade lately to know if the blackjack games use shoes or the continous shuffle machines ? and what $ tables the games pay 3/2 as opposed to 6/5 for blackjack ? thanks

Just off Navigator the 3 to two was the $25 dollar table with a shoe, lower stakes 6/5

thanks i was wondering about those ships specifically because just got off majesty and the shoe with 3/2 was a $50.00 minimum table it was empty 90% of the time !

Last year on Freedom, the 3-2 BJ table was posted $50 minimum & was empty most of the time.

I nicely asked the pit boss if they would lower it to $25 since it was empty? I basically said that I brought a few thousand allocated for gambling, and if the cruise line wanted a chance at my $$, I would play at $25 minimum but not $50. She lowered the table to $25. Good business move. It was much appreciated as I would not have played at $50 minimum.

i tried the same thing with the casino host on this cruise she wouldn't lower the limit to $25 even though there were 4 of us wanting to play $25 i even emailed club royale , no luck. the host said to have a shoe it had to be a $50 minimum it really put a damper on the whole cruise experience !!!

I always wonder what all the fuss is about the 6/5 odds opposed to 3/2 odds on low bet tables. So if your betting $6 and get BJ you would have got $9 on 3/2 table instead of $7 on 6/5 table. And how often do you get BJ. On high end tables I can see the difference.

Just my opinion.

For the same rules (8 deck shoe, dealer hits soft 17, double after split, no re-split aces, no hit on split aces -- typical RCI rules), the house advantage on a 3:2 table is about .66% if you play perfectly. That jumps to 2.01% when BJ payout is reduced to 6:5. You may not see a lot of blackjacks, but because their payout is above 1:1, they have a significant effect on how much money you lose over time.

I agree with tysonboxer if you are playing at a $10 or $15 table it really doesnt matter and you can live with it

but if you are playing at a $25 table for 4 hours a day it DOES make a difference ! You also dont get the feeling that the casino is trying to take advantage of you !

It skews the odds to the house by almost 1%. That is why.

 

So if otherwise the house edge is 0.5%, it becomes 1.5% on that one change.

That thinking is how the casino is making more money off you and you LIKE it.

 

I will play a 6to5 table, but because I play for fun, and prefer the lower stakes. But in Vegas, was not play casinos with 6to5. At least last time I was there, some were still 3to2 on lower stage tables.

 

I prefer a shoe over continuous shuffle also.
