Carnival Liberty Xmas review

MJPNYC

Recommended Posts

I was on the same xmas/new years cruise. My opinion is more in line with Ms. B's. We still had a good time, but I would not sail on Carnival again either. This was my fourth cruise, and I would say the the service that we received was way below what I received from both MSC and RCCL.

I think we probably had the same seats that Ms. B had, only the late seating. Once we switched tables, we had a much better waiter. If possible, see if you can sit with Luciano. He is great.

Our room steward was very friendly, but the room wasn't kept great. Dirty dishes were left overnight. Clean glasses were never provided. On MSC, which we paid a whole lot less for, our cabin was kept immaculate regardless of the condition that we left it in.

The main sun decks were way too crowded with chair hogs, and the reggae music was good but way too loud. We ended up on the sports deck in the back of the boat. I preferred the engine noise over the reggae.

Food in the dining room was good, not fantastic though. Order your steaks on the rare side, and you will do much butter. The lido deck buffet was decent, could have been much better. The asian food was usually good. The grill is good for burgers, but the lines were killer. Pizza was comparable to something out of the freezer, and I'm not just sayign that because I am used to New York City pizza. Sushi was a good thought, but the rice they used didn't seem to be sushi rice. Very thick.

I thought the main male singer in the shows had a horrible voice. Knowing he was singing kept us away from the show. Another night they had someone playing the fiddle. No thanks. I would have preferred a magician or something.

The tv screen on the lido deck was a great touch. The trivia games were fun, as were the concerts. Having to pay for popcorn was a bit annoying.

The casino was good. Always crowded. $5 tables, loose slots.

If you are booked for the Liberty, you should still be excited and look forward to it. If you receive subpar service, speak up and hopefully things will be resolved. It was hard to tell whether the workers couldn't do their job well, or whether they were spread to thin to do a good job.

I am not going to write up a day-by-day summary of the cruise, but if you have any specific questions, please let me know.

MJPNYC - we dined in the Silver Dinig Room. Our tables were directly in the back of the ship. We had a great view but the vibration was very bad. Our server was Eleana. She seemed very agitated on our first night at dinner, but her demeanor did improve slightly after my brother spoke to her and tried to cheer her up.

I am a senior manager in an industry that stresses excellent customer service so mediocre custmer service just does not cut it for me. Anyway, all in all it was great to be with family to bring in the New Year.

Happy New Year to you and yours.
