Table for two (honeymoon)

Recommended Posts

Hi considering RCCL for 7-day European (honeymoon) cruise on either Voyager or Splendor.

We enjoy cruising Princess where we are used to anytime dining. Princess does not offer a 7 day European so we are looking at RCCL. I have searched the threads here a little but can't find anything...

Is it possible to request or arrange with the maitre d to have a table for 2? Anyone have knowledge of this? For this cruise in particular we would rather to dine in the company of each other :) without having to go to specialty restaruants every night!

Thanks!

Yes it is possible to arrange with the Maitre D while on board. In order to increase your odds, I advise you request it up front with your travel agent before booking. For a special occasion such as this I feel it will not be a problem. It was not for me each time I asked for a 2 person table setting.

Hi, I work for Royal Caribbean currently as a reservations agent, soon transferring to groups...

We can waitlist tables for two but they are never guarenteed. Like roloman said though, I would highly suggest calling either your travel agent or rccl directly and asking to be put on the waitlist... once you get on the ship your odds of actually getting the table is far less.

Didn't really mean to re-itterate anything that was already said... but I guess I would have to make my first post at some time or another right?

Thanks for the advice, although the more I read about these two ships they both seem on the outdated side. I think if anything we would go with the Voyager or try to make time for a longer cruise on a different ship.

Either way..good to know on the scoop on tables! :) I don't know much of RCCL, thank god for these boards

I recently sailed my honeymoon on Navigator of the Seas and DID get a table for two. We did not prearrange it on a list with RCL, just went to dining room RIGHT UPON BOARDING, first thing we did, and waited in a line for an hour to get dining assignment changed.

We had to switch from late seating to early seating, but got the table for two in a very nice location in the dining room. No problems. Just the luck of the draw. If we wouldnt have beaten other couples to the dining room, I am sure we may not have gotten the request fulfilled. They only have so much room.

Let me tell ya, it was the BEST dinners we have had atmosphere wise. In and out in less than an hour, and on to other activities. Nothing like cruising with the night sky next to you by window in your own intimate table. We loved it.

Good luck! And remember, go to dining room ASAP upon boarding...and try to get to pier early so you are one of first to board.

It really depends on how much you WANT that table for two.

Early congrats on the wedding!

I realize that we all have our own perceptions of what is "outdated," but the Voyager is only 6 years old! I feel that it's awfully limiting and unrealistic to only expect to cruise on absolutely brand new ships. But, that's JMHO.

And to answer your actual question, you should request a table for 2 through your TA, and have your TA note that it's your honeymoon. As others have mentioned though, RCI absolutely will not guarantee any specific table assignements (except I believe for C&A Diamond or Diamond Plus members, but heck I don't even know if that's true). When you board, go check out your table assignement. If it's not what you want, then go see the Maitre d' (there is usually a specific time listed to do this). Sometimes changes can be accomodated; other times, not. I suspect you might have better luck because it is your honeymoon. (And congratulations too.)

It would be lovely to have the option to have the table for 2 on some nights wouldn't it. I love the bigger tables as you can get a bit "tired" of your partner's conversation every night (that has yet to happen to us) but we both like to socialise but sometimes we like to be able to dine alone. I guess on these particular nights we will either order room service or eat in the Windjammer (or other restaurants on board but unfortunately LOS does not have the other restaurants).

...exactly my reason for choosing Princess, table for two or meet new friends oh and its whatever time you want which is a huge plus. Although I think we would really enjoy RCCL.

Oliverthecat: Thanks for your first hand experience! Congratulations to you too! I'm glad it could work out so great on your trip, that is exactly the experience we are after.

We've sailed on Royal Caribbean many times, including our honeymoon. We requested a table for 2 when the reservations were made and indicated it would be our honeymoon. We were assigned a table for 2 with no problem.

We did sail Princess once and IMO I just have to say the 1 thing that was really lacking was the familiarity that exists between you & your waiter for the entire week. I did not care for having a different waiter every night. That's just my opinion though. Most times we cruise with a group of 8-10 people and don't have to worry about sitting with others that we don't know. Not that it would be a big issue anyway but some people don't care for that.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

Hi! I booked a Novemeber 5th cruise with RCCL for my son's honemoon and approximately a month or two before I called RCCL and requested a table for 2 for them. RCCL informed me that they would put the request in for this, but nothing is guaranteed. They did not get a table for 2, but instead was seated with two (Gay) girls. They did not go to the Maitre' D upon arrival on the ship. However, they really enjoyed their company anyways. They did go to Portofinos one night and the other "couple" also did not attend diner on one occasion. They had a great time on their honeymoon. I am sure you will also. Congratulations.

my husband and I had a table for 2 on our Mariner honeymoon last August. We made sure they knew we were on our honeymoon and requested a table for two (I am a Gold member, it was DH's first cruise), and I called back a number of times to make sure our newlywed/table preference statuses were correct. :) Don't know what did it, but just thought I'd share

alchemy101: Not to rain on your (hopefully) good luck, but what "they" tell you and what actually happens onboard are often two entirely different things. "They" should not be telling you that it's definite. However, it is likely that you would have priority over some other pax because of it being your honeymoon. OTOH, then all any of us would have to do would be to say it's our honeymoon and expect/demand (depending on who we are talking about) that we would be accomodated. RCI simply can't accomodate every request and has always stated quite plainly that they will not guarantee any specific table assignments (except to large groups who are seated at several tables together, and as I mentioned I believe that C&A Diamond Plus members can pretty much have their pick).

I truly hope that you get your table for two, but do be prepared to check once onboard and request a change if necessary.

We were on the Voyager for our honeymoon in 2003, and we had a fantastic time. We did request a table for two through our travel agent, but when we got on the ship, we went to the dining room first thing and found out that we had been assigned to a table for 6. We went to the maitre'd at the designated time (it was posted in the dining room) and told him it was our honeymoon. We were informed (somewhat coldly, I thought) that there were 200 other honeymooning couples on this ship and only 6 tables for two, so our chances of getting one were slim. Nothing like being made to feel special on your honeymoon! However, my husband gave the maitre'd his Seapass card and the maitre'd said he would see what he could do. I was pretty upset because our travel agent had told us that the table for two was not going to be a problem, but we actually did end up getting it. My husband is a platinum member, so that may have had something to do with it. So, just be aware that a table for two is definitely not guaranteed, particularly if there are a lot of other couples on their honeymoon.

Yeah that is another thing...we had 197 honeymoon couples on our cruise as well. Its just a matter of beating them to the punch and getting to dining room asap when boarding to change dining assignment.

It is worth the effort...and you may not get it, but then again you may!!
