Genoa- can you do a shore excursion to Cinque Terra?

Hi, we're only in port between 9 and 6 pm-given that means we probably have only 7 hours in total to travel, is a trip to Cinque Terra do-able or is that too ambitious. Any suggestions as to how to get there would be welcome. Thanks

Doable as train takes just little over an hour from Genoa train station. So figure out time from port to train station. Also leave buffer for delayed trains and missed trains. Also pick only 2 towns - Vernazza and Manarola.

if something is better than nothing philosophy rule sthen it is doable. Otherwise wait for a land vacation and spend 2-3 days.

I second Hal2008's advice. It's quite a long haul and you're at the mercy of TrenItalia's schedules. If you haven't been there already, I'd recommend an excursion to Portofino, and save Cinque Terre for a port of call at La Spezia instead, where it's a short bus or taxi ride from the port.
