WeBeTheBlands Posted July 23, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2018 I've seen a handful of reviews of the Bliss that say the ship cannot transit Glacier Bay because of its size. Would appreciate hearing from past guests' experiences visiting Glacier Bay on the Bliss. Thank you!
Budget Queen Posted July 23, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 23, 2018 It isn't Glacier Bay, it's Tracy Arm. Two different places. Verify the itinerary. It changes next season. It is common for issues with Tracy Arm. There can be alternatives to Endicott Arm. Depends on the conditions, time, bridge decisions. Usually ships don't get past Sawyer Island, IF they do transit Tracy Arm. Overall, you don't cruise Tracy Arm necessarily for glacier viewing, but, a lot of the beauty is the transit. The Bliss (or th Joy) will sail Glacier Bay weekly next season. They will take the itinerary currently being sailed by the Pearl.

The Bliss can sail Tracy Arm. But on an hour to hour basis, the ice conditions will prevent cruise ships of any size from transiting the Fjord. You’re on a cruise ship, not an ice breaker. We just got off the Bliss Saturday and our viewing was Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier. After seeing Glacier Bay twice Dawes was an outstanding change. The scenery up to the Glacier and then then end where the Glacier was was breath taking.
Dragonbird81 Posted July 23, 2018 #6 Share Posted July 23, 2018 We also got off the Bliss on Saturday, and the views were spectacular! We saw whales going right in and were able to grab this stunning image!
WeBeTheBlands Posted July 23, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted July 23, 2018 Thanks, all! Yeah, we were really wondering when we read just a few saying the Bliss could not go into Glacier Bay. We figured there'd be a whole lot more upset people if that were true. Just wanted to make sure before we book next summer.
Budget Queen Posted July 23, 2018 #8 Share Posted July 23, 2018 Thanks, all! Yeah, we were really wondering when we read just a few saying the Bliss could not go into Glacier Bay. We figured there'd be a whole lot more upset people if that were true. Just wanted to make sure before we book next summer. This is not even possible. There can't be any "reports" the ship has never even sailed there. Have no clue what you are reading?? But it's fiction. :)
