Dream vs. Horizon

We are booking a Thanksgiving Cruise and have narrowed it down to the Dream and the new Horizon. We have sailed on the Dream previously and is 6 hours closer. For those that have sailed on both which one did you prefer.

Any difference in itineraries? That's usually my first determinate, then home port. If the difference between those two variables is negligible, then I'll pick between the two ships.

That said, and having my fourth trip on the Dream booked, I would try the Horizon as a change of pace.

Eastern vs Western Caribbean. Been to both multiple times. Dream is 6 hours closer of a drive. Thinking the drive would be worth the wow factor of the new boat?

Jimbo you know what I am going to say.

All depends upon what is important to you.

We strongly prefer a ship that has a large theatre so we can see production shows and a good size comedy club. Dream Class has it all over Vista class in this regard.

I haven't been on the Horizon yet but we are booked for next year. I have sailed Dream & Vista though. I love the Dream. My favorite ship to date. That said, the Vista was great too. I'll be on Magic next but then Horizon soooo

If the itineraries are equal or not important, give Horizon a try & see how you feel. Only you will know!

Definitely this:cool: And that is why we will probably never try the Vista class. I can deal with everything else that has changed. I can even deal with more lines. However, the theatre and comedy club are non-negotiable areas. :(

You can't go wrong with either ship. We have been on both and had a great time on both. Which is why we will be on Horizon again in September and Dream again in January. clear.png?emoji-grin-1677 I think you should determine which one has the best itinerary for you. At the same time if you want to experience the newest ship, you can't go wrong with Horizon. Which ever ship you pick, I'm sure you will have a great time. Happy Sailing!

I would go with Dream over Horizon. I have not been on Dream but have been on Breeze and it has the same layout. I have also been on Horizon as well as Vista and I HATE the theater and comedy club! If those 2 things matter to you, as they do to us, I would go with the Dream. To stand in line 30 to 45 minutes just so you can get a decent seat in the theater is not the way I want to spend my vacation!

On our most recent Horizon sailing, nobody stood in line for a show in the main theater

Have not been on Horizon yet, have to wait for October for that, but we have been on Vista. We have also sailed Dream, and between the 2 ships, I think I would choose Dream. There was just something about that ship that made our vacation top notch, I can’t put my finger on it!

We have been on the Dream last fall (annual poker tournament) leaving from New-Orleans. Loved the trip and the ship. Crew members were fantastic, as usual with Carnival (from our point of view). Going on the Horizon in October too. Can't wait. Grand Turk, La Romana, Curacao and Aruba are stops we've never been to. Even though we've read mixed critics about the Horizon, we feel we are not looking for the stuff lots of people seem to care about. Even though we're a +50 years old couple, aside from the stops, we also want to experience a larger ship and a "brand new" ship. I feel the Horizon will give us exactly what we're looking for: Having fun.

Thank you, I 100% agree with you. As long as my better half is there, so we can spend quality time together, I'm a happy camper, whatever the ship or the cruise line :-)

Although I prefer the other 2 Dream class ships, I would choose the Dream for proximity and design. IMO, the best thing they ever did with the Dream class was the wrap around exterior promenade. The Lanai areas and 4 hottubs relieving the pressure on the Lido. I also love the Ocean Plaza area.

I haven't sailed on the Horizon or Vista, but my objections are the restricted access to the Havana pool area (no more early walking for me), the elimination of the hottubs on the promenade, moving the casino to deck 4, elimination of the atrium elevators and the horrible Liquid Lounge design with moveable chairs, no tables to put your drink down.
