Is St Tropez good excursion from Cannes?

Just a thought. When you are in Cannes you are in a popular sea resort city. If you take an excursion to St Tropez you will simply be trading that for another sea resort city. Is there sufficient reason to do this? We think not...although others will agree. You are talking about over 3 hours just driving back and forth. When in Cannes we prefer day tripping out to other places in the area including Antibes, St Paul de Vence, Nice, Eze, etc.

This is really good advice.

We have explored lovely Cannes and had a great day. We have also taken the train to Antibes (a short journey) and then had time to come back and walk around in Cannes (and you can have a short dip in the water). Next time I hope to take the train to Nice.

hello

is cannes walkable? is ti mainly the promenade or is there more to see behind the promenade? thanks

We have explored it on foot. The old town is up to the left before you get to the promenade. You can see the (expensive but interesting) market. We walked along a castle-like building which was good for views. Not sure if you could go in. The Palais de Festivals is fun to walk around because you can see handprints of many famous actors. There is a shopping street behind the promenade - and a Paul Bakery for a pastry.

I have enjoyed Cannes. When we have visited it has given us a welcome lie-in after three long touring days. France, beach, sunshine, glamorous cars, expensive looking buildings. What more can you want??
