Rare 20165 Posted August 6, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 6, 2018 Curious your overall impression of the condition of the ship? Our cruise is this coming Sunday and I’m getting worried with the negative reviews i have been reading about the condition of the ship. CanadaRob Posted August 6, 2018 #6 Share Posted August 6, 2018 Also curious about overall physical appearance of the ship, have been a couple of recent posts that indicated more significant elevator issues, shows being cancelled due to equipment malfunction etc,

luvcruisin23 Posted August 6, 2018 Author #8 Share Posted August 6, 2018 Also curious about overall physical appearance of the ship, have been a couple of recent posts that indicated more significant elevator issues, shows being cancelled due to equipment malfunction etc, There were no elevator issues while I was onboard, everything ran smoothly. I watched all shows that were offered (all were great, except CATS, which was difficult to follow), and none were canceled. However, during one of the performances of "Come Fly With Me," there was some sort of equipment malfunction about ten minutes in to the show, but the show resumed a few minutes later after the problem was resolved. It was free some nights, but some nights it was considered a specialty restaurant and had a fee.
ravensfan52 Posted August 6, 2018 #11 Share Posted August 6, 2018 OK, I am reviewing some Compasses from May 2018 and don't even see Solarium Bistro listed as a dinner option, so was wondering if it is only open for breakfast and lunch.

I'm pretty sure it's an option because someone had a thread here where they made reservations there for every night of the cruise.

Ken at the beach Posted August 7, 2018 #14 Share Posted August 7, 2018 How about teen activities? Bringing my 14 and 18 yr olds with, worried about them finding their niche. Here’s a teen compass from Harmony. The one from Oasis will be similar. Unfortunately your 18YO won’t be allowed in the teen program. https://issuu.com/hochmania/docs/merged.compressed__1__6db30bfb9e9867/1?ff=true&e=2025714/60125577
Drill-n-Fill Posted August 7, 2018 #15 Share Posted August 7, 2018 Aquatheater shows had technical issues last month as well when we were aboard. Most folks complained about some of the shows as being lame: I had to agree. Cats was good although the first act was slow causing some folks to depart early. Finis (headliner) was ok but not so much for the younger crowd. I’m not sure he’s still on board though as I just saw a billboard with his name and face on it for a Palm Springs casino showroom. Solarium Bistro does not change for dinner. It should... the food in there was poor. Overall condition of the ship was good. Central Park was relaxing. Boardwalk was fun for kids but loud at night. Announcements by crew was unintelligible in many areas. Overall, you’ll have a fun time for sure.

Kinda stinks that he’s still a high school senior so would be great if he could hang with similar kids. Thanks for the compass.

If your son likes the flowrider or the sports court basketball he’ll meet others around his age there. My kids found that once they met a few kids they tended to go off with them and not really use the teen club.

Everyone except one of the kids was under 18 yrs old. It was a high school graduation gift for two of the kids, one just turned 18 and the other wouldn’t be 18 for two months. We went to guest services and asked if the 18 year old could have her card punched like she was under 18 so she could hang out with everyone. It took some convincing, but they finally relented. Now she wasn’t allowed to go into the club or casino, as you have to be 18, but she was fine with that! Doesn’t hurt to ask, and be persistent! Good luck! I get he can hang out and try to meet people his age, but of the two he's less apt to just start talking with folks so I had hoped the older teen group would have other seniors that maybe he could bond with. My fault for not checking the rules first (assumed as a senior still in school he'd be ok) so we'll just play it by ear. Don't see him ever going to the casino, and while he may think it sounds cool, I don't see him hanging out in the club but we'll see! Thanks again. Thanks for the compass. there are several posters here cruising August 12th, who have 18 - 21 years olds... and per the Royal Caribbean App, there is a mixer for that age group the first night.. I think its at midnight (?). Mine are 18 and just 21, but the 21 yr old doesn't drink. There will be lots of time at spent at the Flowrider and rock climbing wall !
