Xerxes10 Posted August 14, 2018 #26 Share Posted August 14, 2018 Ha ha - still waiting for you to turn me into a gin drinker. I'll never say never and may have to hold my nose because it smells like a Christmas tree (which I love to smell but not when I'm taking a sip of a drink). Many decades ago I worked at a petrochemical plant that turned crude oil into, among other things, gasoline components and ethanol (aka vodka). Not a pleasant experience and vodka reminds me on those days. To my nose it smells like it's just come off the crude oil distillation tower. I'm thinking maybe a gin martini flight would be a good idea. On a Viking Ocean cruise last year I attended a martini tasting. Unfortunately they were all flavored martinis - another unpleasant experience. Just looking forward to Hendricks martinis straight up with olives. John182 Posted August 14, 2018 #28 Share Posted August 14, 2018 I don't know about the rest of the world but here in the UK we have gone Gin crazy. I read somewhere that the number of gin distilleries has doubled in the last five years and there are now over 300 of them. It's going to take a while to try them all out. It's all gone a long ways from the original 'Mothers Ruin' . PS The Botanist is indeed excellent (but not as good as the Malts from Islay though)
