Anybody flying out of Barcelona immediately after the cruise?

Recommended Posts

I am thinking of staying in Barcelona a few days before the cruise, but if we can help it, it would be nice to leave immediately after the cruise.
What time is your flight scheduled for to NYC or Atlanta?

I'm flying back to Newark at 11:30 a.m.

If the ship arrives to port at 8am, your flight is at 11:30am, and normally you have to be at the airport a few hours in advance, would you have enough time to disembark the ship and travel to the airport?

Well, someone told me they took the Brilliance cruise and they had plenty of time. I usually get off the ship quickly (especially since early flights (before noon) get priority debarkation). I don't think the AP is that far from the port. Anyway, this was the advice I was given, so I'm going with it.

RCCL says any flight from Barcelona after 10 am is OK. Many people take the 10:40 Delta flight to New York. At most ports they say noon, but for some reason, they say after 10 am is ok from Barcelona.

I booked our return flight for about 10:30 am last time and we were rushed. That was before 9/11 so I'm wondering if it is wise for RCI to say 10 am is okay. There were some passengers who didn't report to the appointed place to make debarkation smooth. I wouldn't book anything before 11 am to be safe.

We had the 10:40am Delta flight to New York last year after our Brilliance cruise. We had plenty of time before the flight left. RCCL was very efficient in getting passengers off the ship and to airport.

Be aware however, that last summer the Barcelona airport was inspecting luggage quite heavily. Every so many people in the check in line were pulled out and had to go to a private area (I know, we did it) and remove every single item out of every piece of luggage. It took forever to get done and then repacked. There were 5 inspectors with us in this area and there was no hurrying them. I wouldn't be comfortable with a flight that early.

I just came back from Barcelona on May9,2004 after a Celebrity cruise. My flight was at 10:40am.We docked at 7am. I was off the ship at 7:30 with a Celebrity transfer and was at the airport at 8am.Plenty of time to check in and walk around.

Just returned from the Brilliance in Barcelona, we flew out the day after the cruise for 2 reasons. 1) We wanted to see Barcalona (let me say one day is not enough in this beautiful city) and 2)The flight was less crowded.

On our last TA cruise we took the same day flight and the plane was packed. This time the flight was almost half empty, we could spread out and not be so cramped.

They are still doing the random luggage search, we had to empty 9 bags between the 3 of us. May want to use plactic bags to make this process easier. They throughly inspected shoes and cd player. There is no hurring the process.

Hope this helps, if you have any other questions just ask.
