TeachKinde Posted August 31, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2018 We will be doing some private tours on our next trip. Anyone have guidelines for tipping day guides and van drivers? Thank you all so much!
BklynBoy8 Posted August 31, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 31, 2018 We normally give a tip to the tour guide if they are very informative and excellent supplying facts that are interesting. Also if they took care of us and the group as a whole. We also give a tip to the driver if they were professional in handling the vehicle and also watched over us. This was for a group tour from the ship but can be applied to a private tour. Tip also counts on the number of hours we were out with them.. Lunenburg Posted September 2, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 2, 2018 On organised multi day tours, the printed guidelines tend to be $10 US per person per day for tour guides and $5.00 pp per day for the driver and half this for half day tours. This has applied for tours in several countries from China, the UK and S. Africa. ( I sometimes feel this is excessive considering the daily wage in some countries is quite low and they are already being paid a wage but probably the norm in the US and Canada. )
