Rare Hlitner Posted September 25, 2018 #5 Share Posted September 25, 2018 IMHO there is no such thing as "best" lobster in Mexico :(. The lobster we get in Mexico is a type of spiny lobster found in warm waters. As a confirmed lobster addict I do not even consider this stuff real lobster (it is technically real). If you want good lobster you need lobster "Americaine" which is the species found in the Atlantic off New England and parts of Canada. We do have quite a few restaurants in Puerto Vallarta that have lobster on their menu if you will settle for the warm weather stuff found in the region. We even have a restaurant called "The Happy Lobster" (La Langosta Feliz) which always has lobster and lots of other types of relatively fresh seafood :). In the Puerto Vallarta Romantic Zone (also known as the Old Town, Viejo Vallarta, or Southside) you can usually find decent regional lobster at La Palapa (located right on the beach) or the Blue Shrimp. We have never tried the lobster at either of those places so cannot give a recommendation. Perhaps Ine will see this post and have some better info . If you want to try the Happy Lobster it is easily accessible from the port via taxi or Uber. Hank
OCruisers Posted September 26, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 26, 2018 Welcome to Cruise Critic! :D Unfortunately, the Mexican Riviera is a place you'll seldom find lobster offered ... much less GOOD lobster. Happily, there are other food choices you'll enjoy!
Griff61 Posted October 6, 2018 #7 Share Posted October 6, 2018 If you do try it and they bring it to you and the meat is dark. Don't eat it. You can get very sick. Just a FYI because I know of a few people who have eaten it and ruined their vacation Sent from my SM-G950W using Forums mobile app
