Julie&ian Posted September 13, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 13, 2018 Hello everyone we have booked our very first cruise on Iona for the 30th June 2020. We have been given a promenade deck balcony cabin GF 8230 and we were wondering if this is a good cabin being on the promenade deck. We have looked at the plans but they don’t help much being our very first cruise. Any advice would be appreciated Thank you.
Rare silkworms Posted September 13, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 13, 2018 Are you sure you have the correct date? As we are off on Iona on 27 June 2020, so I doubt there is a sailing on 30 June.
Julie&ian Posted September 13, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted September 13, 2018 Hi, sorry my husband put the wrong date, it's the 30th may 2020.
dgs1956 Posted September 13, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 13, 2018 You are on Deck 8 Cabin 230 which is the Prom Deck. It should be OK although its quite far away from the swimming pools and the floor above the theatre. Its handy for the restaurants and getting to the theatre on disembarking at ports. What are you particularly concerned about if anything? We are on that cruise on deck 10.
Julie&ian Posted September 13, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted September 13, 2018 Thank you for the info on the swimming pools and theatre. I was a bit concerned that if we were sat on the balcony we wouldn’t be able to see anything if people were stood on the deck in front of our cabin balcony. dgs1956 Posted September 13, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 13, 2018 Its difficult to know until people have actually cruised on the ship but I would imagine that people will be passing and running past etc and as its the Fjords then it could be fairly busy. Its your first cruise and you want it to be right and you'll worry about this until you actually go. There is plenty of availability on this cruise just now so why not change now while you can? Sorry if that's a bit negative.
amajaa Posted September 14, 2018 #7 Share Posted September 14, 2018 Julie and Ian we can’t wait either. Hope they put the Roll Calls up for Iona soon in the P & O Roll Call Forum.

Britboys Posted September 19, 2018 #9 Share Posted September 19, 2018 In case you weren't aware, having balcony cabins on the Promenade Deck is a completely new concept for P&O - and very rare on other lines too. That's why no-one really knows what they will be like. I hope you enjoy your first cruise when it eventually gets here :-).
