CJcruzer Posted September 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2018 the description given by Viking in their included city tour with afternoon open air museum mentions the Palace of the Parliament, however not sure this is a drive-by, photo stop OR inside visit. Another pay optional tour mentions visiting Spring Palace (home of Cescesceau- pardon if misspelled) but again, not Palace of the Parliament. Anyone have any experience with either of these tours - and your review/opinion. In addition, on the Transylvania extension there is an optional excursion on last day in Bucharest to Snagov Monastery and Mogasoia (again pardon if misspelled) Palace. Would be interested if anyone had done this particular excursion.
Rare franski Posted September 19, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 19, 2018 When we went with Viking (a few years ago) - a tour of the Palace of the People was included. The group was split into 3 - one went to the open air museum, one went to the Palace of the People and the 3rd did some touring that included a church, and other sites. Then we all moved... The intent (or so we were told) was to limit the number of people at each place. So, we got to see all the places - and then met up for lunch. Can't speak to Transylvania - sorry... we didn't go there. Fran
WisRiver Posted September 19, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 19, 2018 We were on the Viking Aegir from Bucharest to Budapest in May, 2019. For our day tour of Bucharest we were divided into three or four groups. One group was for the people who did not our could not do a lot of walking (the easy group). The easy group did a driving tour which went by the the Palace of Parliament but did not go in. This group wound up in Old Town where they did a short walking tour. The other groups did an abbreviated driving tour which ended at the Palace of Parliament. These groups did a walking tour of the building that involved lots of up and down stairs. After the Palace of Parlament tour the groups met at the Village Museum (an outdoor museum). We then went on to an excellent fish restaurant where there was a nice folkloric show. After lunch we had a two hour bus ride to get on the Aegir. We then took a short cruise across the river and docked for the night in Bulgaria.
