Direct or agent?

I guess I have been very lucky having always had a brilliant personal cruise specialist at P&O who knows all my preferences etc. This role doesn't exist any more, but we have somehow managed to hang on to ours.

I am not sure how I would feel if I didn't have this - although I must say everyone at P&O with whom I have had phone dealings when my PCS was not there has been excellent. I would still much rather deal directly with the company myself as I just can't face the thought of another TA experience.

Checkout the above article and scroll down to How to choose a TA, and the first one mentioned under Experience should ensure you never have a poor one. But do try to stick to the same consultant that way they quickly get to know your needs and can guide you to the best cruises.

(Since this is a cruise critic article it ought to avoid the dreaded chop, but you never know.)

I fear we may be on the boarder line of what's allowed but that's who we use and we have been very happy with their service. (y):D

Agreed It's all down to personal preference and experience and that's why I will be sticking with my personal P&O contact who has served me well for over 6 years now. I am not looking to move when I am happy, especially as I have tried a couple of (highly recommended by a lot of people) TAs and have not been impressed at all. Nor have I ever been offered a better deal than booking direct.

I am not being over fussy, but I do expect the TA to get my name right and Emergency Contact details and insurance details and to be able to answer basic questions about a cabin without taking two days to come back with an unsatisfactory answer that I got myself within 5 minutes by contacting the company direct. I also am not impressed when the 'consultant' can't pronounce nor knows where a particular popular port is. I could go on, haha.

Hope the OP is successful wherever they decide to book.
