Early traditional dining - port departure

We are sailing on the Diamond Princess on Jan 20 and have booked early traditional dining. I note that the ship sails around 6.00 pm from most ports. Does this mean that you always miss watching the departure from port or is there some way around this? Thanks in advance.

or go to the DR when you first get on the ship and see if they know of someone who wants to switch from the late seating to the earlier.
