Lottie A Posted September 23, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2018 Anyone know what this is please? I intend to bring a bottle of good Champagne with me on my mini cruise on Friday and would like to drink it with friends in Epicurean. Thanks. john watson Posted September 23, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2018 Corkage charge is currently £20.00 per bottle for drinks brought on board at the beginning of the cruise and consumed in restaurant or bars etc. i.e. outside of one's cabin. Captainclive. Posted September 23, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 23, 2018 We drank the Tattinger on-board Aurora which went down rather nicely, and that started at £39 a bottle less whatever loyalty discount you qualify for. There were other brands available as well, obviously all available without the £20 corkage fee.
Lottie A Posted September 23, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted September 23, 2018 Thanks John, that is just what I was asking. We do usually bring a bottle or two of special Champagne aboard with us but we drink it on our balcony. This time there are three of us going. so we thought we would take it to Epicurean with us. Considering the cost of our bottle of Champagne £20 seems reasonable! Captainclive, thanks for your answer as well, but I drink the Taittinger onboard all the time. It's very nice indeed...but nowhere near the quality of our special bottle of Louis Roederer Cristal.
Dwalkerdave Posted September 23, 2018 #5 Share Posted September 23, 2018 Sometimes they don’t charge if they can see you will be good buyers most other nights, but as it is a short cruise you might be unlucky. Let us know how you get on.

Now you know why the £20 corkage charge is not so off putting to us. It is a special occasion though....Taittinger would be more my usual tipple. 😄🍾
Ranchi Posted September 27, 2018 #8 Share Posted September 27, 2018 How does corkage work in practice? I know if passengers who used to take a case or half case of their favourite wine on board and simply pay corkage in the MDR. With the advent of a limit oh 1l of alcohol per passenger is this type of thing still possible?
