Sailaway vs. GTY

Two questions:

1. Am I correct in interpreting GTY to be "guarantee?"

2. Assuming #1 is correct, what is the difference between a Sailaway cabin and a GTY cabin?

1. Yes. The cruise line assigns you a cabin.

2. Sailaway is a guarantee with no “perks” available for selection (beverage package, dining package, etc). This is the lowest price available in the category (inside, ocean view, balcony, etc). GTY does have the perks available for selection and guarantees you AT LEAST a room in that meta-category (BA, BB, BC, etc).

Another difference is that Sail Away can result in being assigned ANY room in the entire meta, whereas GTY are usually a specific category or above. So, say you book a Sail Away Balcony... you might be assigned anything from a BF to a B1. If you book a GTY BC for example, you will get a BC or better.
