cruzn buckeye Posted April 2, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2004 Last Sept. we went on the Glory. The debarkation was a mess. We were actually kind of trapped in a small area wall to wall people, no room to move, and I mean NO room to move at all. People were standing on practically on top of each other. This had to be a safety issue. Is debarkation still this bad? I want to do Glory again but my boyfriend says he would not want to if debarkation is still a mess. umograd83 Posted April 2, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 2, 2004 Debarkation was great for us in December. We carried our own luggage off and we were in the first group to leave. Norma
Lady_K Posted April 2, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 2, 2004 I've read several things about how you can carry your own luggage off. It sounds like it makes it easier to get off the ship faster, but do you have to carry the luggage down the stairs or can you use elevators? We'll be on the Empress deck and while we're reasonably fit, I'm not sure how this would work. If you choose not to carry your own luggage, how soon can you debark? Or what do most people recommend? serene56 Posted April 4, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 4, 2004 You can use the elevtors although you may have to wait for one that will fit you and your luggage. THe elevators tend to move very slowly during the first and last day. THe night before is a nightmae waiting for an elevator..lol Going NOWHERE Miracle, February 13, 2005 Legend, October 22,2004 Voyager August 31,2003 Victory September 22,2002 Regal Empress,June 2001 Sensation,August 2000
glrounds Posted April 4, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 4, 2004 I was on the GLORY in October and rolled my luggage right off the ship when the first color was called. The problem as I saw it was so many people CONTRARY TO INSTRUCTIONS were all waiting in the lobby bar and surrounding areas for their color to be called. This jammed the elevators, stairwells, hallways, and passageways in the ship debarkation areas making a traverse through there very difficult. Lots of four-letter and hyphenated words in that area. Everyone seems to think that the instructions given are only for the "other" people. Once, I was off the ship in the terminal I could have run through customs (which I did, was only asked if I were an American). There were escalators and elevators. Great terminal, by the way.
