Scary or Gross cruise memories.......

Mine was in Jamaica. I was about 12 and my dad and I had gone to eat at this diner across the street from our hotel. We were sitting at the counter munching on burgers facing the grill when from behind us we heard in a thick Jamaican accent "Nobody move nobody get hurt."

I totally froze. But then I heard this hearty Jamaican laughter and turned around. He was a Bob Marley clone and a friend of the owner. It was one of those scary/funny moments.

Hey Derf5585! icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif Funny stuff!

Say----if the 'poop deck' is the upper most, backest part of the ship---does that mean that the Funnel deck is technically the 'poop deck'.

LOL! I'm trying to talk my step-dad into taking my mom on a cruise. He says he was in the Navy, has no desire to be back on a ship. I tell him that a cruise doesn't involve going up and *swabbing the poop deck*....perhaps I should stop saying that...huh? LOL!!! icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

Sewkitten,

Maybe your step-dad is "pooped" out! (Couldn't resist that one.)

Begin to refer to the cruise ship as a floating resort -- once he goes on one you know he'll be hooked. But you better be prepared for the sea monster you'll be creating.

I guess then it should be named the MOON deck

In the course of time the aftercastle became the poop;

I FOUND IT (Dan40)

We use the expression "I'm pooped" meaning "I am completely exhausted"; that usage comes from the effect of a following sea breaking over the poop of the ship

What on earth was a real piece of poop doing on the deck?????? I would have taken a picture of it, or videoed it showing how long it took for somebody to clean it up. Then I would send it to the President of DCL to get a free cruise. That is really nasty - what if somebody stepped in it?

We were privy to it actually happening IN THE MICKY POOL. It was floating casually by, and once it was reported, the pool was evacuated, closed, emptied, and completely sanatized.

What a bummer as it was our sea day.

The only gross thing I saw were passengers walking around the buffet area on the Lido deck in their bathrobes and barefeet. YUCK!

Those swim diapers.......Some people think that they are so wonderful and great, but as you can see, _ _ _ _ still happens. My sister just had a kid and they said that they couldn't wait to put her in the pool, and I yelled "What?!" what if she poops or pees in the pool? and my Mom said, "don't worry she'll have the swim diaper on". icon_rolleyes.gif I just rolled my eyes and remembered everything I have learned from these boards. Those diapers still leak. I'm glad I don't use public pools very often - first of all they turn my hair green and you never know what is floating around in there.

So now I get the joke when a co-worker had to go to the bathroom (#2) and stated that he was going to "take the kids swimming in the pool"!!!

Can you imagine how gross that water actually is??? I mean, there must have been 50 kids in that Mickey pool, under the age of 5. You can't tell me that at least 1/2 of them weren't peeing in it. And we know for a fact that they were doing something else in there!

And we think it's bad on Carnival when ONE kid pees in their diaper in the pool!!!

Where to begin...

In January 1982 I was in San Juan on a tour. While in the tour bus we were stopped at a red light. A shop owner was getting robbed, the owner ran out and shot the robber right in front of our tour bus. Now I never even get off the ship in San Juan.

On my honeymoon in April 1988, 3 people died on our ship. Two were in their 80's and died of heart failure. One actually expired at the dinner table in his soup. The third was a 38 year old mother of two. Unfortunately, due to a mix up of some sort, I was waiting for the tender and the husband arrived with the body waiting to take her off the ship. I will never forget the look on that poor man's face. He was devestated. HIs wife had died of a heart attack.

Searching the Ship Sanitation Reports for ships I'd sailed on and finding that they had found roaches in the kitchen of one (which shall remain nameless)... my husband used to be in pest control and tells me that however many roaches you see in daylight, multiply that number by 1000 and that's how many there really are! Yuck!

Another thing that kind of grossed me out happened on Sensation. We did the galley tour with about 250 other people, it was a HUGE tour. At the end of the tour, the ship photographer is there snapping pics, but the gross part was, they had a chef hat that they would actually remove from one persons head, then put on the others, then the other, then the others... etc, the same hat! I was like "get that thing away from me!" My girlfriends family had just had lice (she runs an in home daycare), and there was NO WAY that I was wearing a hat that 250 strangers just had on their head. ewwwwwwwwwww
