knippsel Posted October 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 18, 2018 (edited) We're on the Grand Princess for the Holiday Cruise and will call in the islands during the week between Christmas and New Years. We've been there a number of times and wonder what there might be that is unique during that period - from decorations (stores, hotels?) to exhibits, activities, etc. Anything particularly Hawaiian (besides all the extra visitors there for the holidays 😉 Thanks. CruiserBruce Posted October 19, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 19, 2018 You can expect lots of poinsettias. Signs saying "Merry Christmas" in Hawaiian. 80 to 90% of everything will be open on Christmas. It will be the warmest Christmas weather you have ever experienced. Otherwise, perhaps a little lower key Christmas.
Beachiekeen Posted October 19, 2018 #3 Share Posted October 19, 2018 As it gets closer, you might want to visit the Hawaii forum on Trip Advisor as the regs and locals often post events there.
wharf rat Posted October 20, 2018 #4 Share Posted October 20, 2018 Just like walking thru all the big hotels and looking at the displays.
KeepCalmBearOn Posted October 20, 2018 #5 Share Posted October 20, 2018 Kalakaua Blvd through Waikiki is always special and the Christmas decorations in Halekulani, the Royal Hawaiian and Moana Surfrider are always great. Ala Moana Center and the International Market Place do a nice job as well. I might even venture out to Disney's Aulani for lunch to see their displays.
