Elite Status Pursuer Question

September has a lot of these as ships leave the Alaska market.  We needed a couple of credits to get Elite for a canal cruise.  So we booked a one day from Seattle to Vancouver, stayed a couple of days, and took a 3 day in a suite from Vancouver to LA.  Total of 3 points each.  First leg was REALLY cheap (like $68 each for balcony) and we got a suite for the second leg for $230 each.  And it gave us an excuse to visit one of our favorite cities.

Our son just did the same thing to get to elite before a long small ship cruise.  He sailed solo from Seattle to Vancouver, switched ships and sailed back to San Francisco.  Solo was pretty cheap even paying double and he picked up four points.

Is it worth it?  The points only matter if you are planning a long cruise and need the laundry service.  But you can buy a lot of paid laundry for the cost of one cruise.  It was really just an excuse to take more cruise
