Best Place to get Rental Car

We are arriving in Miami on Sunday, 3/31.  Our flight home departs from FLL at 9:45, so we have a lot of time to kill.  😁  We are planning to rent a car and perhaps sightsee a bit in Miami, before heading to Fort Lauderdale.  Thinking of just riding the water taxi there and relaxing at the beach.  I can get a good price on car rentals through Avis or Budget at the Port of Miami locations.  It is slightly cheaper to get one from the Downtown Miami locations, but not sure this makes sense?  Can anyone who has gotten a rental post-cruise advise?  Thank you!

Those should be the same locations (2nd Street?) unless there are other offices in downtown farther away.  The locations close to POM usually offer shuttle service  but are also sometimes swamped with cruisers, leading to delays 

 

National, Alamo, Thrifty and Enterprise offer free shuttles between POM and their MIA airport location - shop around!
