Final payment due before online check in?

I tried the Carnival FAQs and search function here but can't find this answer....online check in opens Monday but final payment isn't due for a couple more weeks.  Can I do online check in before submitting my last payment or do I need to submit final payment first?

Yes, you can. It used to be that you could complete online checkin as soon as you booked. I’m not sure why they changed it to a set date. But no, final payment is not needed to complete the checkin process.

You can do online check in as soon as it is available.  However, you will not be able to print the boarding passes until payment has been made in full.

I have a cruise booked for 2020, and I filled out the whole check in when I booked—before they changed their check in policy to 90 days out—and I’m still paying on that cruise. I don’t see why it should affect your check in.

We were able to do online check-in 90 days ahead which was around 3 weeks before final payment was due.

Also, on that 90th day at 12:01am we were able to choose our check-in time for entry to the terminal.🛳️

To answer the OP's original question, you can complete the on-line check in process as soon as it is available.

 

Making your final payment has nothing to do with it.

 

In days long gone you could complete the check in process as soon as you booked the cruise.  I have little idea of why Carnival changed this.  The best I can up with is that they implemented the staggered check-in times.

We are leaving on a PC cruise Jan 19, final payment Oct 21 and boarding pass availability did not open until Nov 1.
