Jen100 Posted November 11, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2018 Does anyone know if the hop on hop off bus is still running in Montevideo, as it doesn’t seem possible to book it online, at the moment

Not the reservation bit though. https://www.busturisticomontevideo.com.uy/home I will see if anyone I know has seen it on the streets in MVD at present. I am sure it will be running once the tourist season gets going here next month. Edited November 11, 2018 by Lunenburg

Lunenburg Posted November 13, 2018 #6 Share Posted November 13, 2018 You should be able to just jump on the bus near the port - if not, there are a few free walking tours available which cover the old city. Just search online.

JsEscape2 Posted December 16, 2018 #8 Share Posted December 16, 2018 We were planning on doing the Hop 0n hop off in Montevideo in 2017. We walked off the ship to just outside the gated area and saw a tour bus being offered for $20 pp. We took that and were glad we did. Good tour in English and Spanish. The HOHO was crowded and infrequent. Not sure if that $20 tour will be available. We are going there again this February and not sure what we will do this time. Lunenburg Posted December 16, 2018 #9 Share Posted December 16, 2018 The tours out to a winery with lunch are popular. Colonia is worth seeing if there is time, but it is a fair distance away - 180 Km and the scenery along the way isn't that interesting. There are some walking tours and you could drop in the Carnival museum or others such as the Andes Museum, Palacio Taranco etc. or a tour of teatro Solis.
