Ā Why?Ā Being cool and shivering a bit increases the proportion of brown fat in your body vs white fat.Ā Brown fat is metabolically active so it burns energy (calories) more than white fat (metabolically inactive).Ā Brown fat only burns 1/2 the energy as muscle but 4x more than white fat. Ā Brown fat is found in babies but it seems it starts to convert to white fat for most people living in comfortable conditions. Ā Bonus: you'll save on heating bills too.
