Orlando Vic Posted September 20, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted September 20, 2019 I suspect you would have to be US military.. But call the Fort MacArthur Inn and ask them yourself. (I realize that it is a long distance call.)

bluenose1 Posted October 25, 2019 #8 Share Posted October 25, 2019 There is also a nice Navy Lodge in San Diego, next to the naval station real easy to get to using all rail transport.
FLArmyWife Posted December 30, 2019 #9 Share Posted December 30, 2019 Do they offer a shuttle to the port? We're on the east coast and within a few hours from each of several ports but would love to take a cruise from the west coast some time.

It's basic military housing, comfortable, affordable but nothing to write home about. I'm sure they don't have a shuttle but it's not that far from port - maybe a 10 minute drive. You can Uber but you will have to drag your bags to the front gate because they don't allow Uber on base. At least that's what we were told. However, you will not be that far from the gate -- maybe a block.
WAMarathoner Posted July 1, 2020 #11 Share Posted July 1, 2020 If you're cruising out of the World Cruise Center (100 Swinford St. not Carnival Windsor Way), you might also try the Crowne Plaza Los Angeles Harbor Hotel. If you use points (earned or bought), you avoid the tax. It's a little bit more than Fort MacArthur+Uber, but it's walking distance to the port (about .4 mile to the port parking lot). Just in case Fort MacArthur is full or you want/need to make reservations more than 120 days out.

It was old but very spacious and comfortable. you are correct about the lack of a shuttle, but we were staying several days and had a car from Enterprise in San Pedro. coopco Posted August 21, 2023 #13 Share Posted August 21, 2023 FYI, we find that staying at Ft. MacArthur is no longer affordable. They raised their rates a few years ago and you can find something newer and cheaper off base. The exception would be if you have a pet you will be putting in boarding before your cruise and you are a big group. We can get a unit for six people that is dog friendly and it’s cheaper than getting three hotel rooms elsewhere (since we cruise with or kids and their significant others sometimes).
