Hi  -- My husband and I are considering a 14 Day Panama Cruise from NYC on Carnival Sunrise May 2019. He is concerned about being bored on the ship that long -- Do they have different shows -- he thinks the will repeat the headline shows... ? Also, will they change up dining menus or repeat? How many formal nights?

We have done a 19 day with HAL & a 15 day Hawaii with Carnival.  If it is a Journey's cruise, they will have special activities & some special speakers/seminars during the day.  I don't t remember the menu being repeated, nor the shows.  They may have fly on entertainers for a few days & then different ones.  I believe we had 3 formal nights on our 15 day.  I never got bored on the 19 day or the 15 day, but I am easily entertained by the casino, my e reader, & fellow passengers.  Have fun.

Since I'm from The Land DownUnder; most of our cruises are 9 to 11 days. have done 19 & 17 day ones... On my last cruise which was 12 days to Fuji. We had The 4 stage shows (carnival's own show's) spread over the whole cruise. (epic Rock etc) they of course had love & Marriage, welcome aboard, hasbro. They had Hypnotist's & also a magic show. A very good singer. but the best was a Impersonator. it was a Freddie Mercury (Queen) He sang all there songs & I went to both shows (early & Late)..

They will change-up the comedians every couple of day's. you might get 6 different ones spread over the 14 days...

The food in MDR, will change & should not repeat. they will have up to 10 different food themed nights. eg Greek, Thai, italian, Indian & so on..

Panama canal would be great, On my bucket list of place to go to & sailing out of NYC. (Up there with San francisco & of course my Sydney)

I don't think he should get board.

We have just returned from 14 day 'journeys' cruise in Breeze. shows/entertainment does not repeat, they bought in various acts, some quite different to normal which was good. We did find the food to become a bit boring towards the end, but rather then that being a problem be aware the journey longer cruises are NOT the usual carnival demographic, we had ove 2000 diamond and platinum cruisers on our sailing which did have an effect on some of the evening entertainment, but as long as that doesn't bother you then you will be fine.

The menu will not repeat.  Shows will have additional acts. There will be activities such as a passenger chorus, simple language lessons and/or crafting projects.  On our last Journeys cruise there were daily dance lessons on sea days.  We liked the dance teacher because he was an avid Brooklyn Dodgers fan from when he was a small boy in NY.  Very nice man!

So true.  We've sailed several of long cruises.  This is what we've experienced---

Dinner menus will not repeat.  Occasionally the few items that do will be prepared differently each time.  There are three formal nights--2 Cruise Elegant nights and one Captain's on the Throwback day.

On three of the sea days breakfast and lunch will be served instead of brunch.

Sea days have lots of activities. Fly-on entertainment, Port lectures, Academy of Fun lectures. On our two week cruises we've had 8 different comedians. Ballroom dance classes, trivia, lots of music.  Almost daily crafts, last Journeys cruise the ED scheduled a knitting hour.  Depending on the ship, movies on the big screen at night or in the comedy lounge during the day.

Thanks all we just took advantage of the extended Cyber Monday Sale and pulled the trigger! So excited... 14 Day round trip from our home port NYC to Panama Cruise. Now only 178 days to go! I am just worried I'll be hooked to 14 day cruises from now on! I see B2Bs in my future...

Yep, you'll be hooked! We did our first 14-nighter in 2011 and just booked our sixth. The 14-15 night sailings are sooooooo much better than shorter ones!
