When to purchase next cruise?

Is it best to select and purchase the next cruise while on the ship or wait and purchase it through our normal travel agent? Cruise Critic just said if I do it through the ship I would get more perks. (I will be planning a European trip.) What have you found? Thanks.

depends on the cruise line

with us  we got  some $ off the  new booking & a $100 OBC for the cruise we were on

Plus lower deposit amount   &  the booking went to our TA  who also added some perks
