DukeBlueDevil Posted December 30, 2018 #1 Share Posted December 30, 2018 Thinking about booking a guaranteed Inside Stateroom with Restrictions on the Fantasy...is this a good idea? Will I potentially be given a cabin that will be super noisy/crappy? Does anyone have any horror stories or happy experiences to share? Thanks! Rare cantgetin Posted December 30, 2018 #2 Share Posted December 30, 2018 Read the restrictions before you book. Essentially you cannot cancel or change this reservation in any way without total loss of your cruise fare. It isn't the stateroom that is restricted, it is the booking. When you receive your assignment or after boarding, you'll be moved only if there is something really WRONG with the cabin (like a maintenance issue), not because you don't like it or feel it is "noisy." That said, I've had far more noise from my neighbors than from any cabin listed on line as "noisy." If there are fewer than 4 of you, you might be assigned to what was formerly a cat 12 on the Wonder or Magic--rooms right under the nightclubs that only hold 3 people. Three are no "crappy" cabins on the DCL ships, although people have preferences for all kinds of reasons. DO NOT book this way if you care about where on the ship your cabin is located. You will be placed in any cabin that will hold the number of people you have booked or that could hold more. While it will typically be an inside, it is also possible that you'll be assigned to an oceanview cabin. You could be assigned to an HA cabin, which will not have a bathtub--it will have a roll in shower. So if you NEED a bathtub for a child, do not book this way. We've done a VGT booking--the cabin was great and a significant savings. No, it was not the "lowest" cabin in the verandah type. It was a normal cat 5 (could have been 4-7), The bottom line is that this is a good way to save money IF you are OK with the concept of ANY cabin on the ship. If, after boarding, there is a repair/maintenance issue with your cabin, they'll try to fix it. If unable to repair it, they will move you.
