Empress of the seas and first day dining options

Going on 1/13/19 cruise out of Miami.

 

What are the options for dining when you board the ship?  Is the main dining room open for a seated lunch.

If I remember correctly it was only the Windjammer open on embarkation days.. I think the MDR was only for suite and D

MDR is only open for lunch on sea days.

We have always ordered room service once we got to our room. Hopefully you can still do that while at the dock. Things always change and they may not allow that anymore so don't count on it.

Room service has a fee anytime other than breakfast (and even at breakfast only Continental items are "free").  But it is a single fee so you could order the entire menu and only pay $8.95 (last time I checked).

       I have always had a suite on  my cruises. (this will be my 5th) The only time they have a charge is between like midnight and 6am or something like that. Is room service different when you have a suite?  I know that I have never had a room service charge on my account. I even asked while booking about room service and was told it was included. I have one of the owners suites on this cruise.

 Things changed a few months ago.  It is $7.95 per order for anything other than continental breakfast for all cabins except suites

Full Suites have free room service at all times.

 

And they have an expanded breakfast menu.  And during MDR mealtimes, you can order anything on the MDR memu for room delivery.
