t-ray Posted January 16, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2006 I will be experiencing my first cruise in about a month and am getting very excited. i read a lot of information that people have put on here, and it is very much appreciated. a couple questions i have though, is i read poeple talking about drink coupons. i am a young guy who likes to have a good time, and the occasional chardonay or 2. to cut back on my bill at the end, this sounds like a great idea. where do i get them from? what, if anything, does it cost me? oh and i'm traveling on Destiny. thanks again to all that may be of service!!!!!! sluggo Posted January 16, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2006 You can pre-purchase them from the Carnival website - under Gifts->Most Popular. I'm not sure if they are available once you board, I wasn't checking at that point. It's $19.20 for 4 drink vouchers which will save you a little in the long run. But I would advise against using them for the "drink of the day" which will cost you less than you were paying for the individiual vouchers - they were less than $4.80 IIRC ;)
RizzoLee Posted January 17, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2006 I just bought a couple-they were $19.50 for 4, I bought 2 sets. You can buy them online, but not on the ship, and you can't buy them within 5 days of sailing online. Worked out to be $46/CDN for the 8. My DBF bought 4 packs (16) coupons, and I think he's gotten too many-I'll be more than happy to help him out though. And not tell him he can use the remainder on the next cruise! My Drinks of the Day have always been more than $4.80, and that's what I (try) to use them for, but I buy the 'full size' drinks of the day, maybe Sluggo gets the smaller versions. Some servers will let you use them for more than face value, some will charge you the difference. I think a couple are a great idea, too many is an inconvenience. kujobie Posted January 17, 2006 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2006 You can just call and have $$ transferred from your credit/debit card to your sail and sign account at any time, in any increment, as often as you'd like. No need to deal with drink coupons or funship dollars. They are meant more as gifts from people who are not sailing with you. If you are just trying to budget for yourself, just call and add $$ to your s & s account.
Sass4 Posted January 17, 2006 #5 Share Posted January 17, 2006 How do you know/get your S&S card? Or do you just log in on carnival?
jetskier Posted January 17, 2006 #6 Share Posted January 17, 2006 You get your S&S card when you board. It is used to log charges to your room account as no cash changes hands on board except in the casino. It also serves as your room key on some ships. It is also your boarding pass for getting off and onto the ship. Dave
