runningradical Posted January 8, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2019 This is our first time to the Turks and was wondering if Cockburn town is close enough to walk too. Also is there anything worth seeing in town. Thank you
Loonbeam Posted January 8, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2019 Technically? Yes. It would be a long hot walk past the airport though - about 5 miles? We didn't really see anything of note, just a few places to eat and a bunch of stores selling the same trinkets, most made in China. We didn't go all the way down tho, had a golf cart and headed up to the lighthouse, came back along the other side, so we may have missed something. Rare crewsweeper Posted January 8, 2019 #3 Share Posted January 8, 2019 There are no sidewalks along the main road, it is a heavily travelled road as portions are industrial areas. You cannot walk all the way along the beach. And it's just under 3 miles from the cruise center gate to Cockburntown. The town is about a mile long along the water front. Bowman1 Posted January 14, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2019 We were in Grand Turk in Mar 2017 - we walked back from Cockburn to the cruise port because we could not find a cab As stated, it is not scenic and there are no sidewalks - other than that, it can be done
cruiser620 Posted January 25, 2019 #5 Share Posted January 25, 2019 Unless something has changed since I was there a couple of years ago, there is no reason to go to Cockburntown. There is nothing there of interest.
