abbiep Posted January 8, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2019 I apologize in advance if this has already been answered. I have searched for about an hour and cant find the answer. I know there is a charge for room service but I thought I read somewhere that you could get a limited menu for breakfast for free. I am more interested in having coffee delivered to the room first thing and hopefully not having to pay for it.
dplusd Posted January 8, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2019 Coffee (and all continental breakfast items) are still free during breakfast hours. Most would give a cash tip to the delivery person.
abbiep Posted January 8, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted January 8, 2019 Thanks that's what I thought. We would be part of the most that gives a tip to the delivery person.
ptod Posted January 8, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 8, 2019 The room service menu for breakfast is pretty easy to use - the items that will cost extra are in a shaded area on the menu. When I want a particular item - like Earl Grey tea - I actually list a separate check box and am very specific even with which color sweetener I would prefer. I try to make their job a bit easier. If you are in a JS or above you should have a kettle in your cabin to make your own tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Cabin Stewards can often get you a kettle if you ask the first time you see them.A cash tip is appreciated.

There are no kettles in rooms embarking from North American homeports, I believe these are only found on European embarkations.

We always have a kettle in our balcony cabin but we primarily sail from Barcelona, Venice and Southampton in Europe and if none our Cabin Steward gets us one. For the op continental breakfast with coffee, tea and juices is free although we get a Room Service hot breakfast every morning for $7.95 plus I give the waiter $2-3 cash tip. On Harmony Park Cafe on Central park deck 8 is excellent for a coffee and a snack.
abbiep Posted January 8, 2019 Author #9 Share Posted January 8, 2019 Thank you for your responses. We are not in a JS. We are in a balcony on deck 10. My cabin mate needs her coffee as soon as she gets up.
ptod Posted January 8, 2019 #10 Share Posted January 8, 2019 One other tip if your cabin mate is a little groggy before coffee - as soon as I hang the room service menu on the door, I put my tip money in the little card holder that has the "do not disturb/please make up room" cards. Makes for an easy exchange with the crew member in the morning no matter which of you answers the door.
