Time Zone Figuring

I've been trying to figure this out on my own and got thrown for a loop so i thought i might enlist the expertise of those around to help.

I'm sailing on the Inspiration May 23'rd 04 the Itinerary is as follows (times are EST off carnivals web site)

Tue - Grand Cayman 7am - 3pm
Wed - Costa Maya 10am - 6pm
Thu - Cozumel 7am - 6pm
Fri - Belize 7:30am - 4:30pm

I checked through some online time zone web sites and did some thinking on my own and THOUGHT i had everything converted to local Mexican/Island Time which came out this way:

Tue - Grand Cayman 5am - 1pm
Wed - Costa Maya 9am - 5pm
Thu - Cozumel 6am - 5pm
Fri - Belize 5:30am - 2:30pm

I have already booked in belize to do a horesback spa deal through island marketing, they are getting me at the dock at 6:50am (local ofcourse) which seemed to work out, gives me 90 minutes to get there.

However as i was booking my second excursion in Grand cayman chatting with the tour operater he told me that the inspiration is docking in GC at 6AM local Time, and leaving at 2PM local time. Which obviously throws off my entire thinking.

Can someone maybe simplify all of this, correct my calculations or just explain how i screwed up?

Thank you,
The Slacker

I'm not sure anyone can simplify this time zone thingy.

Cayman islands do not change their clocks the way most (not all) of us do in the States.

Some ships in the Carnival fleet change times with the time zones to stay local, and some ships keep their clocks on their home port the entire trip and expect the passengers to stay on "Ship" time.

All I can suggest is read the "Capers" daily to help keep track of time. If you are booking excursions on your own, just ask the tour operator about time changes. 98% of the tour operators are wonderful people and want you to enjoy their homeland. They won't steer you wrong.

Just wondering do you or anyone else out there know why this is. It sure seemed simple on the Conquest when they changed ship time to match island time. Just wondering if anyone has a clue why it's different on some ships.

Seems that would get confusing. On the cruises we have been on, they remind you at the beginning of the cruise to stay on ship time, which doesn't change throughout the cruise, and everyone can synchronize their watches at that time. That way no one misses the ship when it leaves port.

Both the Paradise last October (western), and the Triumph this past January (eastern) changed ship time to synch with local time.

The time changes are published well in advance in the Capers, as well as announced numerous times. It is your own fault if you do not know what time it is.

Yes. Don't try to calculate ship time vs. island time. Just make your arrangements with a reputable tour company and more than likely if they have been in business a while then they know when you need to be back on the ship and will get you back in good time. You will be told by the cruise director when to set your clock up or back.
