Anyone ever been to Grand Turk?

We're looking at Carnival's Elation itinerary for this Spring, which includes a stop at Grand Turk. Can anyone tell us about this place? We love to go to nice beaches and snorkel, the quieter the better, and we really don't need all the amenities like beach chairs, bars, etc. Carnival lists some shore excursions, but we prefer to do things on our own where we can. Does anyone know where the ship might dock/anchor, and if there are beaches within walking distance of the dock? Any recommended websites with tourist info about Turks & Caicos? Thanks in advance!

:) Hey 2Feathers! It's your old buddy Snorkelcat. I am about to leave Sat morning to Ft L to go on another KT & Friends cruise. I just found out that the 2007 cruise has already been set up. It will be on HAL Westerdam Jan 21st. We will go to Grand Turk/Cacios, Tortola, St Martin, & Half Moon Cay. So I thought I'd take quick look here & who do I find!

So how ya been? Well enough for another cruise!

I won't keep ya long, cause I am in major packing mode tonight. Just took a quick break.

If you go to Grand Turk, give us a review. I trust your assesments.

Gotta run, the dryer buzzed.

Good to type to ya again. Take care.

Snorkelcat you dog! I'm extremely jealous!! We're doing great, and it sounds like you are as well. Wish I were leaving for a cruise tomorrow... Where all are you going? Make sure you give us a report when you get back. That sounds like a nice itinerary for 2007. I've heard great things about Turks & Caicos and Half Moon Cay. We love to spend our vacations on beautiful quiet beaches, and from what we've read both of these places are the ticket! We've been to Tortola a couple of times, and you can find beaches like that there or take excursions to some great snorkel spots from there. So that'll be a great trip. We're still shopping for this Spring, but are really intrigued by the Elation's new itinerary.

Well, be safe and I hope you have a great time next week! I know you're going to feel badly for me next week while I'm stuck here working, eating baloney sandwiches for lunch, and then not even having anyone to put my napkin in my lap for me, while you're visiting exotic beaches, watching shows, and eating gourmet food, but try not to let it ruin your vacation! : ) Take care!!
