azgrandmax3 Posted January 22, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 22, 2019 Help please. I will be arriving at Terminal 3 from a domestic flight and 2 hours later suppose to depart from international terminal headed to Singapore on United Airlines. I am unable to walk quickly. Is the distance walkable, or will I need to take a tram etc? Will I need to go through Security again? This will be my first experience at San Francisco Airport. Looks like there is construction going on. My travel date is Jan 31. Thank You Azgrandmax3
goofy559 Posted January 22, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 22, 2019 (edited) Here is a good map of the terminals at SFO. You should have plenty of time. Are your bags going right through to Singapore? Edited January 22, 2019 by goofy559
adstz Posted January 22, 2019 #3 Share Posted January 22, 2019 I googled your question and came up with this - "That's because from the domestic arrivals gates on United, you can walk directly to the international gates without having to pass through security, Walk in the direction of the international terminal, passing all the gates. At the very west end of the domestic gates, there is a passageway to your right that will take you striaght to the United international gates." Are you saying the International is on the same level as terminal 3 for United? Or will we have to go to a lower level to get bus? I see another poster suggest we can just walk to International. We do appreciate all the help. azgrandmax3
sfpd3000 Posted January 23, 2019 #5 Share Posted January 23, 2019 As mentioned above, United utilizes terminal 3 and International terminal G. They are connected without you having go through security again. There are elevators and escalators available. It is walkable. The construction is not affecting terminal 3 or International terminal. Unfortunately I am off on Jan 31, otherwise I would have been happy to escort you to your gate. wheezedr Posted January 23, 2019 #8 Share Posted January 23, 2019 As stated Terminal 3 which is United’s domestic terminal has a post security connection to the international terminal so you will not have to clear security again. You will likely need to recheck in at the gate as your initial flight was domestic and probably did not clear you through for your international departure, but that should be a short and simple process. Loved the reference to the Taraval station which I used to walk by every day on my way to Lincoln High.
jagsfan Posted January 23, 2019 #9 Share Posted January 23, 2019 If you request a wheelchair, you may be taken through the airport innards and get to international even quicker. Going by wheelchair won’t wear you out and you won’t have to concern yourself about getting there. I can’t walk distances, and when I feel like I’m hurrying, small children and 100 year olds pass me. I request the wheelchair directly from the airline and it’s waiting for me. It sure takes the anxiety out of changing planes.
azgrandmax3 Posted January 24, 2019 Author #10 Share Posted January 24, 2019 WOW so many fine suggestions. We have 3 flights between Tucson and Singapore, having all the info you have offered has been a great relief. MJSailors Posted January 24, 2019 #11 Share Posted January 24, 2019 If I were you, I would ask for wheelchair assistance from United to get you from one terminal to the other. it seems that you will be having a long travel day, so saving your energy is key. Also, SFO is a busy airport. It may be helpful to have a guide to get you through it. We fly from our local small airport to Florida frequently. Southwest is the main airline using this airport and there are many travelers who use their wheelchair assist program. Enjoy your travels !
