last minute questions

I'm at T minus 11 days and counting til my first cruise and I have some questions. Since most of these are Carnival specific, I'm going to ask them here.

1) I know it's in the cruise docs somewhere, but I can't find it. Other than formal nights, is a "polo-type" shirt and khakis sufficient men's dress? Or do I need to pack a sports coat?

2) On many packing lists, we've seen cable ties listed. For the life of us, we can't figure out what they're for (other than securing the zipper on your luggage). What are they for?

3) We want to do the Carnival shore excursions. We know we can get them cheaper through a third party, but we want the convenience of doing them through Carnival. Anyway, are there different times for the same excursion? Example: Stingray excursion in Grand Cayman at, say, 8:00, 9:00, and 10:00.

Question 1: Polo Shirt and Khakis should be fine, although some men will wear a jacket each evening.

Question 2: My guess is the cable ties are for securing luggage now that locks are frowned upon due to the need to search luggage in security.

Question 3: If the tour is a shorter one than there will probably be several different options time wise. If the tour takes several hours (as long as seven or eight) then there may only be one option for departing.

Hope this helps and have a great time!

By the way- what ship are you taking?

1.Yes......khakis and a shirt will be just fine.
2.Cable ties are used instead of locks for your luggage so if they need to search your luggage they can just cut the ties....not the locks
3.Alot of shore tours do have different scheduled times. It all depends on the tour.
