Casino - gambling $$

20 cruises and we have never once gambled.  Planning an 8 nt Cuba cruise and 7 new cruisers are joining us.  No idea how gambling in the casino works in terms of $$$.  Do you "charge" gambling money to your room OR do you exchange US currency in the casino? 

 

Sorry for such a silly question, but want to be able to answer this for our "guests" in advance that are relying on me to help them acclimate to cruising!

Take cash, go gambling, leave broke.....or with more cash.  If you charge it to your room there is a fee involved for a new gambler...pretty like any other casino.

Use American dollars in the casino on tables and slot machines.  You can obtain cash from your on board account if you wish.  There are ATM machines which dispense dollars but charge a fee. 
Money from your on board account is also charged a fee.

The fee for charging to your on board account is exorbitant. Bring a couple of thousand in cash. Gamble until it is gone. Enjoy the rest of your cruise.

It's 5% to get money in the casino if you are not Prime, Signature or Master.

oh so glad you asked this question.... I was going to ask the same question tonite.  I don't feel so bad

now!  Glad to know that I can take cash and use it in the slots in the casino.  Thanks for the great info!

If you set up your on board account as a cash one there isn't the 5% fee to charge money in the casino to it.
