moonbeam3 Posted February 1, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2019 Has anyone used the cruise discount for Diamond members? What was the cost basis for the discount? I've been on hold for hours a couple of times recently with the CAS line but forgot to ask them this question and thought maybe one of you all had used the discount. Right now I have 3 cruise certificates but none of them give me the summer dates I want. Thanks!!

Rare BirdTravels Posted February 1, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 1, 2019 Once you cruise once with a certificate, you can call CAS directly. If you gamble at a diamond level on your first cruise, they will comp or discount all future cruises (without a certificate),,, you pick the date and itinerary. iamalmond Posted February 1, 2019 #4 Share Posted February 1, 2019 Does your certificate say the following on the bottom? "This certificate has a trade-in value for additional cruise options not listed. Ask your Norwegian representative for more details." I forgot what the trade-in value was, but it may be more than the Total Rewards discount.
kfnesq Posted February 1, 2019 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2019 I am diamond and I always use it (rates posted above). It's a nice perk, IMO. They do tend to charge some kind of admin fee (like $200), I don't know if that's for booking through the casino or everyone has to do it, but otherwise it's 20% off the rate that shows online, which is nice. moonbeam3 Posted February 2, 2019 Author #6 Share Posted February 2, 2019 Thanks you guys for your responses! I'm making notes so next time I'm on with CAS I'll have my questions ready. And maybe I'll use all my certificates! I'm retired after all!

Last April when we had a certificate to use from Harrah's the fine print said had to be used by Nov. when I called the representative said we could use it in Jan also said we could use it on a 10 day cruise which surprised me. Yes but it can be more or less then $200, each cruise is different as far as what the NCF is. On a straight out comp from CAS it is $20.00 per day but the discounted cruises follow NCL NCF’s which are different then CAS and can be 200-250 per person. When calculating out the discount you must take the fare..minus out the NCF...multiply the discount %...minus out that amount and then add the NCF back in. For example Escape to Bermuda 4/14/19 B2 category (FYI all categories would have the same NCF on any given sailing from insides to suites they are the same, I am just using the B2 as an example) $1299.00 fare per person $240.00 NCF $1059 W/O NCF multiply this amount by 20% Diamond discount -$211.80 (20% Discount) $847.20 discounted rate - Add back $240 NCF $240.00 $1087.20 would be your total discounted rate (this does not include port fees or any free at sea promo charges).
